I am looking for recommendations for a nice spot to pitch my tent in one of the NPs on the South Coast of NSW. There are quite a few listed and I just want to know which ones are favourites.

Thanks

G'day Gerri

Gillards Beach, Mimosa Rocks NP
Saltwater Creek, Ben Boyd NP
Battangabee, Ben Boyd NP

Gillards is quite open, has camp sites with fire pits, pretty much beachfront, open beach. There are a couple of other popular sites within this NP but we haven't used them.

Saltwater Creek is bushier. Short walk (200m), a small bay type beach, good rock fishing, canoeing in the creek, plenty of goannas and possums, and a snake or two.

Battangabee is not far from Saltwater Creek, has more sites, smaller beach, sites are probably not as level as the first two. Haven't camped there yet, but can recommend either of the first two mentioned.

Cheers
John

Wingan Inlet (Croajingolong NP) just south of the border is a favourite of mine.

Private camp sites about 300 metres from the lake behind the Inlet - great if you have a canoe or a tinny. Limited facilities - drop toilets and two water points for creek water. The Wingan river is navigable about a further 1.5k upstream.

It's about 1.5k through a very pretty walk to the beach, and then a short walk to the actual inlet. There's a seal colony off the inlet.
Come any closer and I'll rip your throat out!

While not a NP, I go to Mystery Bay just south of Narooma. Cold showers, pit toilets, close to beach. $15.00 per night for two adults ( $10.00 if pensioner)
Dolphins and whales often seen. Have seen seals and penguins as well.
Fishermen have been known to catch large game fish off rocks. (just not me)

HiGerri,

Pebbly Beach, Depot Beach....good walks around the coastline, along beaches and one to Durras Mtn from Pebbly. Lots of kangaroos, possums and birds at Pebbly Beach so hide your food!

Also Bournda near Tathra/Bega.

Regards,

Heather

Aragunnu, Mimosa Rocks National Park.

Been our favorite haunt since the kids were little. Now we camp at Aragunnu with three generations.

Good diving, nice beach, ship wreck just off beach, great rocks, bush walking, surfing.

Basic facilities: firewood and pit fireplaces, gas barbie x 2, pit toots, garbage bin. Take your own water.

Hi Gerri
Durras North is another great camping spot. Attractions include Durras Lake and Beach. Surrounded by Murramarang National Park and Batemans Marine Park. Heaps of kangaroos. Numerous bushwalks. Popular with international visitors due to the wildlife and traditional coastal village atmosphere.
