Morning All
Plan to head up to the Millstream area at Christmas.
Head up thru Murchison Settlement, Mount Augusta
and on to Tom Price. My question is does anyone know of any good
camping spots that allow dogs.I have a Miniature Pinscher so he's only
little but a dog none the less.

Hi Norm

Just near Millstream there is a community called Ngurawanna (I will check the spelling). The Community leader is a really nice guy called Ricky Smith, and he is always willing to share his knowledge of the area, and perhaps give some advice that you are looking for.

Everybody in the town of Roebourne knows Ricky, so there would be no trouble locating him .

Cheers

it's gunna be hot, i mean REALLY hot at that time of the year .........
The dog may have problems with the hot ground and sun.....
We had the "road crew" camped near Ashburton Downs one year and pulled out for a break, when they got back to the camp the water tank, potable and painted with insulated white, was boiling from being out in the sun, 5000l tank .... was hissing from the vent..

Hi Joe and Mel
I appreciate your concern as to the temp, but we hope to camp near water
so we should be able to cool off.Sure must have been hot when you were out there

Hi again Norm

I have to agree with Joe and Mel, as when I was in the area (when I met Ricky and his wife), I actually failed to put my thongs on one day to go to the outside toilet. I received treatment on the bottom of my feet for some 12 days afterwards for the burns and blisters, and that was about a ten metre dash across the hot ground (cement).

These days my feet have adjusted, as except when I am welding, I do not wear shoes at all.

Cheers

Even the water is warm at that time of the year. We were there late October last year and it was unbearable. Enjoy the views.

I lived in Tom Price for 5 years, left last year. It is hot, really hot at christmas, you cant rely to much on water being your savior, chances are is hasnt rained for 9 months, what water is there is quite possibly stagnant and/or not very inviting, I have not been out to Millstream for a few years so I couldnt say what it is like at the moment. Where the water is good, dogs are not permitted. If it is a little dog you may get around it. Some pools around the area get an algae build up and are not suitable for swimming if there has been no rain or fresh water run through, Python pool is the one I have in mind.

yep i lived in TP for 7 years and worked for the council for 5 of them as a mechanic and spend a lot of time out bush, at that time of the year it is simply to hot, any water left is simply to dirty and hot to go near, any places other than Karajini and Millstream will have cattle around them and not be very nice at all, flies are horrendus and it gets humid with the rains....
The road crew took mid Dec to start of Feb off every year as equipment would overheat and ac's would cut out so i was not worth it .............

I have some photos of a storm and heavy rain is falling and evaporating about 20M from the ground, never even hit the ground......
Toolbox INSIDE and big toolbox and after driving, not sitting in the sun, tools were so hot had to run water over them just to use them.....

Man it was so hot i need a beer now just remembering it
Cheers
Joe
