Its 92 years today since the end of the war to end all wars. Please take the time at 11AM to remember them if you can.

They fought and some died for their homeland.
They fought and some died, now it's our land.
Look at his little child; there's no fear in her eyes.
Could he not show respect for other dads who have died?

Take two minutes, would you mind?
It's a pittance of time,
For the boys and the girls who went over.
In peace may they rest, may we never
forget why they died.
It's a pittance of time.

God forgive me for wanting to strike him.
Give me strength so as not to be like him.
My heart pounds in my breast, fingers pressed to my lips,
My throat wants to bawl out, my tongue barely resists.

But two minutes I will bide.
It's a pittance of time,
For the boys and the girls who went over.
In peace may they rest.
May we never forget why they died.
It's a pittance of time.

Read the letters and poems of the heroes at home.
They have casualties, battles, and fears of their own.
There's a price to be paid if you go, if you stay.
Freedom's fought for and won in numerous ways.

Take two minutes, would you mind?
It's a pittance of time,
For the boys and the girls all over.
May we never forget, our young become vets.
At the end of the line,
It's a pittance of time.

It takes courage to fight in your own war.
It takes courage to fight someone else's war.
Our peacekeepers tell of their own living hell.
They bring hope to foreign lands that hate mongers can't kill.

Take two minutes, would you mind?
It's a pittance of time,
For the boys and the girls who go over.
In peacetime our best still don battle dress
And lay their lives on the line.
It's a pittance of time

In peace may they rest,
Lest we forget

Here where I work, the production assembly line falls silent at 11.00am every 11th of November.

An eerie but sombering silence falls upon these buildings as hundreds of people, from all walks of life, of different race, colour and creed stand united to honor and remember the fallen.

.....They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

RIP...Dad.

I remember those who have fallen, and I think about the families who had loved ones never to return, from all theatres of war.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

Why travel overseas, you could travel Australia your entire life, and not see it all.

VicRoads doesn't want to remember them, in case they offend any precious egos.

VicRoads.... Traitors

Whoever thought of this in VicRoads should be sacked.

I agree, we all should Remember and be Grateful to the Past and Present Service Men and Women, and to Remember The Fallen,

Real Australians would be Offended, I know I am.

What type of Moron would make that statement?.

Just when you thought you'd seen it all, in comes this little gem from Vicroads. I'm truly stunned.

As for stopping work, I'll be leaving my building and wandering across the road to Kings Park where the service will be carried out and pay my respects there.

I went to Vietnam for him and now I am unable to work because of my injuries. I didn't get any apology. This political correctness BUGS me. Thank God I will be done with it soon.

Our remembrance service today was not only attended by Vets, but good to see the school children representation (and knowledge) getting bigger each year.

Lest We Forget.

Hi Everyone,
We had the most special remembrance service at my school. My son told me he would speak at our service while he was on deployment in Afghanastan, i did not expect him to do this as he has only been home 2 1/2 weeks but he travelled the 3 hours well he started his address but emotion overtook him when he mentioned his mates did not make it home. There was silence from every student there. At the end of the service they gave him a rousing applause there was not a dry eye in the house as they say. It was so moving and the students saw a little of the reality of war. after he recovered he talked to the students for an hour and half. He did himself, his parents and the army proud. I think the students were truely moved to see this proud young soldier in tears.

Barb, I knew your boy was over there from previous talk on this subject. My DIL's brother was in the deployment that replaced those men, and our thoughts and prayers now turn to them. You have every reason to be so very proud of a very special young Australian MAN. (BTW ours took your advice and stocked up on specialised winter clothing) :-)))
