I am planning a quick trip out to the Birdsville Trak for a ride on the ferry.

I hope to go to Marree then up the track to Birdsville. The question I have is about the route home to Sydney.

I would like to take the opportunity to go to Haddon's Corner and then home via Hungerford. Just wondering if anyone can help me with a suggested route and approximate travel time from Birdsville to Hungerford via Haddon's or otherwise.

Yes I am aware of the vagaries of the weather and the impact that may have on travel. If I get caught by the weather so be it I just don't want to try for something that is unrealistic.

Hope this helps......

Birdsville, Haddon’s Corner, down through Arrabury Station towards Nappa Merrie Station (Dig Tree). Head East from there along the Adventure Highway towards Thargomindah and on to Hungerford from there. Or continue straight on towards Eulo and head south through Currawinya NP to Hungerford...

Corner Country

Cheers, The Landy

Thanks Landy,

Do you have nay idea how long that will take? Days or half days would be good enough.

G'day Duncs, not sure when you are travelling, but I am sure with your experience you will have checked the weather forecast for this weekend out that way.
Looks like a hovercraft might be handy.

I am well aware of the forecast. A mate in the Hill takes great delight in telling me that I won't make it.

I have a small window of opportunity and I am going to have a go. If I don't make it I will at least have tried.

If we make it I will be very happy. If I don't I will still spend a bit of time in the bush with my son. Either way I am a winner.

Image Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be FoundHi Duncs, I reccon you could get to Haddon Corner in 3 & a half hours from Birdsville, then onto the Dig Tree in about 2 & a half hours to 3 hours, the rest of the way to Thargominda is 95% bitumen, From there I cant help but I will put up some photo's of the Arrabury rd which we found in great condition earlyer this year.
