god morning all
I have been granted some additional time at the beginning of our Christmas holidays 14/12 to 22/12 by work and are now considering adding the blue mountains area as a stop over on our way to the far north coast of nsw we would like to see the
Katoomba area or maybe some ware that is nearer to
Sydney so that a commute to the city by train to see the sites for the day.
my question is could some recommend a caravan
park in this area suitable for a
young family, i have been viewing
park web sites but would love to hear from people that have had good experiences with a particular
park.
kind regards andrew.

Stayed at Blackheath a while back and found it to be quite good. There is a large
park and swimming pool complex over the road from the
park.
We went by train to
Sydney one day and lots of
places of interest just a short drive away.

There is also a good track to Govett's Leap that starts at the Blackheath caravan
Park, with a small
swimming hole near the end.
I like The Blackheath Caravan
park but my daughter didn't so there you are. you can also walk up to the Blackheath pub and shops from there about 1.5-2Km
Govett's leap is also an access to several great bushwalking tracks and if you are really fit you can do
Grand Canyon from there.
A track also goes down into the Grose Valley from Govett's Leap, however it was closed by landslides a few years ago, so hopefully reopened.
Not like the Landslide at
Katoomba, where the track has not been rebuilt since the landslide in the mid 1930s.LOL
All in all Blackheath is a great location for exploring the entire Blue Mountains and the caravan
park is very quiet being a couple of Ks from the main road

Andy,
I will second the recommendation for Blackheath,
Nice
park, not far from the railway line, but far enough that you wont hear them at night. A good base to go and explore the Blue Montains attractions such as the
Zig Zag Railway, Megalong Valley, Moutnt Tomah and
Mount Wilson,
The Three Sisters,
Katoomba,
Laura,
Lithgow, Newnes,
Glen Davis,
Hill End,
Sofala and last but not least,
Jenolan Caves and Kanangra Boyd National
Park.
You could even get over to the coast from there via
Lithgow, Ryleston, Byalong Valley, Denman, Maitland, then Hexam and avoid having to go into
Sydney.
Cheers,
Cruiser

G,day Andy,
I will also recommend Blackheath. Although I have not stayed at the caravan
park as I always stay out at some bush cabins on the Blackheath/
Evans lookout rd.
I try to get to the Blue mountains every couple of years from Vic & Blackheath is central to all attractions listed above hence the reason I don't stay anywhere else. If you like bushwalks there are many fine walks up there. I highly recomend you do the 6km
Grand Canyon walk loop off the Blackheath/
Evans lookout rd.
Enjoy!
