Im about to fit new springs to our Tambo Cooper in preperation for our trip to the Cape next year and want to fit the absolute best springs I can.
Im looking at Alko Outback Offroad springs, 7 leaf atm with rebound dampers.
I believe thats what mine has fitted from std(was talking to Tambo yesterday) but in a 6 leaf.
So, what brands are best(has to be made in Australia using Australian steel)?
Nick

G'day Nick,, I'm no spring expert but a fan of leaves. I'm surprised a Tambo
would need new springs, but you are the best judge of that. If you are happy with the way the Alkos performed then a changeover will be the simplest
solution. I would avoid the boutique 4WD outlets & stick with spring manufacturers. I suppose the range may be a bit limited in Tas. Made in Oz with Oz steel may not be that simple either. I'm not sure any camper needs 7 leaves,
but if your 6 jobs are stuffed I would be looking more closely at the length & quality issues. ...oldbaz.

See below re spring rates, 7 leaf but only 1000kgs rating.I want 1200kg rated springs due to all the extra acc. I have fitted.
But more so than rates, I want to know about spring quality.

Are you sure that it needs a 7 leaf spring pack?
Tambo aren't a very heavy trailer & if it is oversprung it will damage the contents on bad roads.

Std on a Tambo Cooper are 7 leaf, some of the earlier built ones used 6 leaf but heavier spring rate.

HI Nick

I have them on my Trackabout CT. Did 13000K around WA/Kimberley including
Buchanan/Buntine and Gibb. No problems.

Cheers

Howard
