I know this subject has been discussed before however I'm after any suggestions for retail outlets in western Sydney who specialise in exhaust upgrades for 4WDs. I am considering an upgrade to my 2001 GU Patrol to a 2.75 or 3.0 inch exhaust system as a preliminary step before also installing a DP chip when dollars permit. Can anyone recommend a business who knows what they are doing so I can discuss my plans and arrange for a new exhaust. Also if someone has done a similar upgrade I would welcome any advice as I'm uncertain what is best, 2.75 inch or 3.0 inch, serious suggestions only please as I'm not interested in hearing from the anti 3.0l Patrol community.

Regards,

PATROLONAROLL

Hi Robert,

I purchased a 3inch kit from Beaudesert Exhausts, The kit includes the dump pipe I fitted this to my Nissan Patrol 4.2tdi. Myself & a work mate had the job done in 3 hours. It could have taken less time if the instruction sheet had pictures of how all the brackets that attach the system to the vehicle go so I took it upon myself to take photo's of the system during installation so if anyone asked me about contemplating doing the same job. I could help as you can clearly see how the brackets are installed by the photo's. Now was it a benefit you bet, totally better vehicle to drive, Better fuel economy I should know by now. Rippen up hills in 5th gear & the same hills before I had to change back 1 or 2 gears.

The Beaudesert People are great to deal with. The kit was delivered in 2 days packed properly.

Now my work mate he was that impressed with the system that he ordered one for his Nissan Navara & fitted it himself. He is also happy with similar results in performance & economy. The system he fitted was the 2.75inch.

Macca,

Thanks for the info and I also checked out your photos, they look great. I note your Patrol is a 4.2L, do you know whether the 3.0 inch system is recommended for the 3.0l patrol or is the 2.75 better as your mate used on his Navara. I have read many posts on different forums and find it all a bit confusing as which is best for my Patrol.

Regards,

Robert.

Hi Robert A

Honestly I would give them a call they have supplied & fitted enough systems to know what will suit you best. They returned my calls & were truly helpful as I was a bit hesitant to tackle the job of installing it myself. I'm glad I did it now I saved some money the hardest part of the job was cutting 5mm off one of the bolts on the back of the turbo. I have no affiliation with this company just a very happy customer. Was it worth the busted knuckles & strained neck & a bloated belly (drinking beer then laying down under the vehicle) you bet I should have done this 7 years ago.

Cheers Macca

Macca,

I used Beaudesert's on line enquiry form and they responded quickly and said they do not make a 3 inch system for the 3.0 litre patrol as it results in over exhausting and causes boost spikes. They make a 2.75 inch system. This is the sort of info I'm after so I don't make a mistake and cause problems, which they suggest will happen if I use a 3 inch system. Anyhow thanks for the tip I'll keep researching a bit more on a 2.75 inch system.

Regards

Robert

Hi,

Just put a 3" system on my 2000 3 litre. Wished I had done it years ago. Different vehicle all together.
