Image Could Not Be FoundI have recently found information and news articles on this new free caravan
park that has been opened by The
Richmond club. It has showers
toilets is secure, you have access to the clubs facilities etc.
I am very interested in going there for a weekend with the family and some friends and explore the area, and its about a 90min drive from Wyong - NSW
I am interested in hearing from anyone that may have stayed here, the website looks good and informative.
Its great to see a club giving back to the community and offering their facilities for the traveller.
Here is the link to their website

Sounds good. It does mention another
park close by for those wanting to extend their stay, so i'm guessing there might be a limit to how long you can stay. Which I can understand. Will need to remember this place for future reference.

There is a short blog about it on ExplorOz - I think the stay is limited to 72 hrs which is pretty generous for a freebie so close to
Sydney.
Regards,
Heather

There is a Caravan
Park at Vineyard, about 12 k's east. Not sure what it's like though.

It could be right under the flight path for raaf planes if it's anywhere near the club. That can be pretty noisy if they are doing training laps, take offs and landings over and over. Sometimes the fighters from Williamtown come down and do them after dark as
well. Man they nearly break your ear drums. Still most of the time you are safe. Mike

Looking at the map it is very close to the RAAF base? Should add for some excitement for the kids?

A lot of people
park on the main road and watch them land and take off. There is a
tourist information centre and cafe on the other side of the road which is usually quite busy. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you don't like the noise) there can be long periods of inactivity at the base. Its good if the fighters or the massive American planes are doing their stuff. Mike

I am in
Richmond for the rest of the week, staying right opposite the RAAF Base, so I will check this C/P out for future reference.

You might look at The Lane Cove National
Park. We go there when visiting
Sydney.
Public transport at the
gate 15 minutes from Chatswood railway station. Tent
camping, campers, caravans and cabins. We go here for Royal
easter Show and the entertainment centre shows etc. About 35 to 45 mins to city centre by bus and train.
