Hi P&J
You will find that the Hema Navigator is a stand alone unit when in the vehicle and will not work in conjunction with a computer in your vehicle. If you want to use Ozi on your home computer and also in your vehicle, you will have to purchase a new Copy of OziExplorer to uses on the computer and if you want to uses that also in your vehicle, you will need some form of GPS receiver, starting from the small GPS mouse type receivers through to a stand alone Hand help GPS, eg Garmin etc.

The only thing that you will be able to exchange from the Hema is your GPX Track file that you record on the Hema when Travelling.

Other will give you more details I would say.

Cheers

Hello

HEMA/OziExplorer have a new program (a month or too ago) that interfaces with Hema via PC. It is a customised version of the OziExplorer PC and it is free...

Get it here Hema Software and updates

"HEMA Navigator Explorer application is ....specifically engineered for use with the HEMA Navigator 5". This application will install into a current version of the HEMA Australia 4WD Raster Map Collection as pre-installed on a PC (DVD is supplied with the Navigator) and allows the plotting and transfer of Waypoints, Tracks and Routes to and from the HEMA Navigator 5”"

Hi Greg
I have downloaded and installed ActiveSync and done as expected. When I connect the HN5 and press the ActiveSynce symbol and follow the upgrade prompts, is said that it can not find the HN.

What am I doing wrong.

Hi Greg
As a long shot, I downloaded all the files to another computer, connected the unit, and all has upgraded correctly. Now for the test to see if I can see any changes.

Thanks for the latest with the navigator.

Cheers

No worries,

I have not seen any feedback whatsoever posted on any forums regarding the new set up so any you can provide will be helpful. May have a play myself when I get a bit of free time.

Cheers

Hi Stephen,

When you tried to interface the HN5 to your first computer, was it a Windows 7 64-bit computer?

There is a known problem with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 not recognising the HN5.
I have recorded this problem with Hema Support. Apparently there is a conflict with one or more hardware drivers and they are working on a solution.
My short term fix is to use my old Windows XP laptop which recognises the HN5 without any problem.

Windows XP uses the ActiveSync application, whereas Windows 7 and Vista use Windows Mobile Device Centre app.

Hi Bill
My first computer was XP, but about 4 years old. I downloaded all the ActiveSync applications which were installed correctly and working. When I followed the prompts to do the updates, it does not find the HN5. I tried removing the application, reinstalling it, including a reboot but still the same issue.

I then thought just for the heck of it, still on XP but a new Netbook and doing all the same procedures and it worked with no problems. The strange part with the older XP is that is kept updated with all possible updates so it is very strange.

I now know that if I have to update the HN5, I will have to use the new Netbook. Did you notice any changes after you installed the updates to your HN5?

Cheers

unless a computer geek knows otherwise

ozi is easily copied to other computers but needs an activation key

you can simply domwnoad the latest version from their website which will partially work but need a key to fully work

anyway the ozi on your hema isnt the full version but ozice desighned to run on limited systems such as pdas or your navigator

Hi all,

Well it appears I may not be able to do it on my new laptop (windows 7).
As I am not a computer whiz and I may have to contact the man in Clare one day for help. I knew a fellow that had a lapy with ozi on it and a stick in the side and it worked. As I said I don't know a lot on Computers or GPS's when it comes to it.
Thanks to all Cheers P&J
