Hi All,
Has anyone come across the specifications for the new BT50 or Ford Ranger anywhere?
I have yet to see them, even though the vehicle was launched in Sydney weeks ago.
Cheers
Allan

Hi Allan

The latest 'Western 4W Driver' magazine has a bit of an overview about the BT50 and how it has parted with Ford for the design of their new models.

Quote -'Though Ford - which until last year owned the majority share in Mazda - has taken a different design route to Mazda, both come from the same platform and have ideals in the same markets. - further states that though they both chasing the same market (after considerable research) - came up with quite varied outcomes. It states they won't be commencing manufacture till next June.
Claims the Mazda will use the Sky-D engines & the Sky-Driver transmissions in the BT-50. The 2.2 litre Sky-D bi-turbo diesel has 420 Nm and is a certainty as the sole engine for the BT-50 next year. This will be offered with a six speed manual or Mazda developed six speed auto with lock up gears.'

Just a few extracts. Hope they help.

Regards - Phil

Daza - the Western 4WD mag says that Ford 'said the payload was 'up to' 1500kg but wouldn't conform tow ratings other than promising 'best in class'. "

No payload or tow rating mentioned for the Mazda.

Interesting to note a couple of pages further on that the Nissans are getting 'The Renault made 3 litre engine for Patrol, Pathfinder & Navara. 170kW and 550Nm from 1750rpm - linked with seven speed auto tranny.

Towing capacity - Pathfinder to 3500kg and Navara to 3000kg.'
