Garmin Nuvi - what maps?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 255. I am trying to figure out what format maps I can use on the SD card for off road driving. I have a set of Auslig 1:250,000 (ECW) maps. Is there a way I can use these?

I also have a copy of OziExplorer (with OZF maps). I previously used OziExplorer on my HP PDA. Do I need to load OziExplorer on the Nuvi?

Any help would be appreciated, as the instruction manual is less than instructive.

You can use Tracks 4 Australia. but you must have a Garmin Mapsource product on the PC , the cheapest one is Garmins Track and Waypoint Manager.

Download T4A HERE

As stated you can also use Shonky maps Download itHERE.

Then there's the Garmin Topo, check it out HERE

I have found they all have +'s and --'s

when you get out in the centre . I was sold them as hema maps . didn,t know
any different , when I asked specifically were they hema ? yes was the answer !!
we did a trip along the plenty HWY an down the hay river . most of the time
we travelled on a blank screen or an unnamed road . ok in the high country .

For my money Oz Topo is a fantastic product for the Garmin units, mind tho you cant autoroute with it, but none of the others do either

Check out www.gpsoz.com.au.

Brian and Kirsten will be able to help you out. They are currently ver 2.1 but ver 3.0 is due out soon

All the Best

No good around west of Alice, St Theresa, channel country around KFC or Walkers crossing.

Pretty good elsewhere
