Hi Everyone, Merry Christmas

Just did a quick trip down to Sydney from Brisbane (wed), road conditions going down via the Coast was a bit damp and busy around Kempsey.

In two minds about which way to go heading back, heading out of Sydney on the freeway at the Newcastle end, a sign flashed on about traffic delays at Kempsey, Macksville, Coffs and Grafton, so decision made, home via the New England, great run, little traffic, rain from about Armidale.

Cheers

Ray,
I hope you went through the cattle dip at Wallangarra, we wouldn't want to bring any of those diseases back into Gods country. LOL

Have a good one

Gday Rocky

Always go through the dip, but forget the crutching eh, same as when I go up the Coast, always get the passport stamped at the Tweed stock control.

Merry Xmas

cheers

Hi Ray,

I live near Kempsey and was in town yesterday and the traffic was pitiful.

From My observation the main problem is the traffic lights. Three sets of them!!

Traffic was flowing freely north of the last set of lights on the north bound side and the traffic was flowing freely on the bridge heading south which is after the last set of lights. Different story heading north onto the bridge.
Heard that earlier in the day the traffic was built up for 5 kilometres south of the bridge, north bound. Has not been verified but that was the skuttle butt.

When I head north out of Kempsey heading for Queensland I head for the New England just so that I can dodge the pacific Highway and Brisbane.

On the last holiday we went to Rocky and I took 2 days to get to a certain point traveling via Kyogle and Warrick and on the return we traveled the new England down to Uralla then to Walcha and back to the coast which we did in one day.

Sydney Brisbane the New England is far less stressful in my opinion and virtually no traffic holdups.

Congratulations on a wise decision.

Cheers, Bruce.

It amazes me that anyone would travel the Pacific Highway especially at holiday time. The New England Highway is always easier even in the non holiday time and that is from the North Coast of NSW.

Go in land and enjoy the trip.

Gday Bruce

Yep it is those 3 sets of traffic lights that are the problem, had to think outside the square on that one, all good ...

Yep, the Walcha track is a good one, at the moment there is a fair bit of water around, at Warrick there was high tide on the way out of town on the north side.

But your right, go inland and enjoy the trip.

Merry Xmas

Cheers

Gday GW

Your right, the inland is a good run, but unfortunatley, have too many catch ups on the way, so mostly go down via the Coast.

Merry Xmas

Did the run down from Bundy to the Blue Mtns via the Pacific Hwy on Christmas Day, bugger all traffic and took 16.5 hrs with stops for the missus and young bloke. There were reported 14km delays Nth bound and 2km southbound near Buladealah today.
