Probably the most cost effective addition to our touring Jack is the FM transmitter
come charger thingy that puts my little nano through the 6 speakers with quality
& volume you would not believe. About 1200 tracks of both sorts of music mixed
with folk....heaven. Yes I know those of you that spend motzas on newer 4WD
probably have inbuilt you beaut sound systems, but for a few bucks on Ebay I am
singin along with none of that hassle cd systems give.
With the little remote attached to the steering wheel I can pretend to be pedalling something flash..with finger tip control etc...gotta love that......oldbaz.

Oldbaz - one of the best things I did to my Jack was replace the 6 speakers. Huge difference in sound quality.

Bazooka, no doubt that would work, but present sound is good. Besides that would blow to hell my rep as a miserable old fart :)))).....oldbaz.
(With all the respect fellow Jack drivers deserve)

Young Baz,

Cheap way is a car radio with a usb port and use a usb stick with bulk memory for music, just stick it in and listen for as long as you like.

have a good one.

You are not wrong Baz. I have about 50 7" reel to reel tapes crammed full of music of different genre. I put them on a few SD cards and USB sticks and carry them in the console. Days worth. Gigabytes of music and in such a small space. Heaps of stuff from the 60's through to the 80's and then a few gigabytes of random tracks from the latter years. Even have one stick full of various artist's videos/dvd's as well.

It all plays on the in-dash 7" gps that replaced the stereo that came with the car. Follow the map with Oziexplorer and listen to Jimmy Hendrix at the same time. And watch the Rat Pack or Streisand when not driving.

Haven't played a dvd/cd for ages. Beats the old radio from the FJ that took ages to warm up!!!!!

But I am still going to get an active antenna to keep up with the news.

Phil

Hi Old Baz

Everyone is calling you old, I am only 51 and have a perfectly working 8 track, and yes, I still use it now and then on long trips.

Cheers

Noooo, you can't have. Where have you mounted it in the vehicle? I haven't seen one of those since the 70's. Post us a photo of that piece of history lol.

Hi Karunjie

Unfortunately I have some problems with this site. I cannot open links, and cannot post photos, but when I can, I will send a photo of the 8 track.

Cheers
