Wondering what your thoughts are re the next few weeks and expected rain or better still chance of any flooding up your way. On the New England Highway where are the low spots driving from Newcastle to Tamworth. Any advice, warnings would be appreciated.

Hi didiaust,

Funny you should post just now, I have been looking at the 28 day forecast for Tamworth (with the festival in mind). The entire catchment area is wet from rain during the past 6 weeks so any heavy rainfall will result in the rivers coming up again. And the 28 day forecast indicates a good chance of rain as indicated by the darker green day.

As far as chance of flooding - haha - I was told when I first moved here that "it floods every year for the festival". Bah humbug - only done it once in 12 years. But with the wet catchment and forecast rain - there is a better than even bet that it could happen. If you are coming up - plan on camping away from the river.

No particular spots between Newie and Tamworth to be concerned about.

See the link for Elders 28 day forecast

Cheers

G'day mate,

I'm not wanting too much rain at the moment - apart from Splitrock Dam north of Manilla, all the rest are already overflowing.

Hope all is well at home.

Cheers
