hi all, live in Carnegie, melb looking for new
camping places couple hours out of melb, near beach or rivers, free and fires, any ideas appreciated

Probably best bet is to check the Neerim and Noojee areas.

Could also look at the Merringtons flat area just over the Thompson dam wall and there is plenty of other spots around Aberfeldy/
Walhalla.

Agree with Biglinz. Merringtons and many
places along the Aberfeldy are lovely. I think they closed Merringtons after the fires and I didn't know it had opened. It's a lovely spot.

Was at Merringtons and O'Tooles over Xmas/new year and they are all open. Not recomended for caravans though.

Try Lerderderg National
Park out near
Bacchus Marsh, or plenty of camps around the Wambat Forest or the Otway Ranges, perhaps Blanket Bay. It depends which side of
Melbourne you want to look.
