Hi

I want to get a LED strip light (12v) to use with the camper. Have a 1 M inside and they work very well. Tried all of the usual camping shops but no luck. I notice that there are some listed in the Shop. Any feedback on these or any others that people have found to be good.

many thanks

You can order them through Kulkyne Kampers - www.Kampers.com.au

We have one in our camper trailer, and are very happy with it.

Try DealExtreme.com

They send from Hong Kong. Prices are in US dollars and no added freight charges.

Check out this strip 10w LED from Deal Extreme:
SKU 37243 (strip style)
or SKU 39957 (square style)

both are 9 leds configured as 3 leds in series, paralleled 3 times.

These run at about 10.5v at 1A, but need a heat sink and a constant current driver:
SKU 13557
(the LED will take up to 1A, but this driver runs it at about 700mA, still very bright)
Don't try to run it on 12v without the driver, you'll destroy it. And it must have the heat sink, or it'll cook.

Very bright. All up a bit over $12.

Hi outback epicurean,
I purchased 4x4 equip twin duo flex last year. It is good for what I use it for (move it around a fair bit between tent, float and traytop) and gives off good light. Just have to fit switch yourself.

I second the EO shop one. I purchased the dual white yellow strip light. Gives out sufficient light to work by and when finished and just sitting around I use the yellow light. This is sufficient to get another beer out of the esky without all the bugs hanging around.

Yep i third that, purchased the dual yellow/white 90cm one from the EO shop. It is mounted on the underside of the rooftop tent so we have light under there when we have the tent open and are doing food prep under it. I was sceptical about the yellow not attracting bugs as much as white but i was proven very wrong on our July deserts trip, worked a treat.

I have just completed a 8,552Km trip to the Red Centre and back (got back yesterday) with a pair of dual yellow/white 90cm from the EO shop, their awesome! Had one under (Velcro) the Hannibal roof tent to light up the back of the Patrol where the Waeco fridge is and the other moved around from under the Hannibal awning or duct taped or cable tied to whatever structure we were using at the camp sites along the way out and back.

The light they give is fantastic and being able to have either white/yellow or both is a great feature, the yellow worked really well at keeping the majority of bugs to a minimum, especially great while cooking. I have two fluro lights I have used for the last couple of years and they never came out of the drawer the whole trip!

G'day Mick,

Read your review and they look a good thing.

One question. Are they water proof to the extent that they could be mounted on the outside of the camper in the weather?

Hi outback epicurean,

I bought the rigid LED strip light which has both yellow and white lights from the EO shop, online, around 12 months ago and it has had quite frequent use with no problems. We love it and use it under our caravan awning, attached by two small hooks to the van whenever we are staying unpowered.

Regards,

Heather G
