I have a 12 volt Col-Lite flourescent light which has worked great for the past 10 years or so, but has recently died.

They are now about $150 to replace, so I was wondering if there was any other 12 volt flouros that would be just as good at a lower price that other forum members can recommend.

I have several LED lights that are great, but a good single flouro gives a better 360 degree light at a camp site.

I was going to recommend you look at the Versalite 12v Fluro, but as you require 360 degree light they would be no good as they have a built-in reflector to direct light in a more restricted forward direction.

So, you could look at the Evakool Torpedo Fluro which from memory does give 360 degree illumination. They sell for around $110.00.

I have one of each and like them both.

I also have the Versa Lite they are excellent and they also do a LED version now. You can remove the reflector by removing the perspex sheath, pull it out and replace sheath. Also you can get (from the explore OZ shop) an amber cover that makes them less attractive to bugs.

I use a number of these some are 10 years old, they are the best light I have found and only draw about 0.6 of an AMP.

The lights are available through the explore OZ shop also.

years ago i just purchased a small 240V fluro, then got a 12V conversion kit for it. can't remember the name of company here in Brisbane that i got it from (they were near Eagle Farm), but i'm sure others may have links to companies that sell similar stuff
