Looking to put a free flow exhaust on the VX 200 T/D.

Has any one put a "Brand name" system on and what was the result?

I was going to do the exhaust first, then chip it after seeing how much the exhaust system does to economy and power.

Where do most systems start or do they have to have extractors fitted as well.

I am based in Sydney, but would travel east coast if a good system/company.

Have a yarn with the boys at Macquarie 4WD at Vineyard near Windsor they have a kit which includes the exhaust and the Safari DP chip .
They did my 100 series T/D almost 2 years ago and it flies and still going strong with no problems. I tow a 3.5 ton van with it and hardly know van is there.
Good Luck
Gary.

You might also like to give Beaudesert Exausts in SE Queensland a call.
They specialise in mandrell bent exhausts for 4wd's.

I have a Beaudesert Mandrel exhaust and a Safari chip in my 100ser.

Gives more oomph but still use the same amount of fuel.

Reason being if you have the grunt you tend to use it.

I get exactly the same consumption figures with the upgrade to what I got before doing it.

I believe Safari chips are no longer imported by the distributor.

Dont mean to Hijack your thread pling, but is a mandrel bent 3'' exhaust system that much more superior to a 3" exhaust system made at an exhaust shop with a pipe bender.....I understand the difference in the bends but in the fair dinkum dept does it really make that much of a difference??

A mandrel bent pipe is the same diameter all the way

A normally bent pipe has reduced diameter where it is bent and sometimes a quite large reduction in diameter.

And yes it does make a significant difference as does a decent dump pipe which has a much bigger diameter exit hole to a standard one.

In fact the exhaust on mine gave a better increase on the Dyno than did the chip.

I have read that not to get a coated pipe as the stuff can flake off with the heat and retain moisture, leading to rusting over time.

That was with a ceramic coated one.

The only downside to a mandrel bent one is that the outside of the curves cause the pipe to stretch around the bender and causes thinning in the wall.

Mine is over two years old and has no problems.

I can imagine the VX 200 T/D with a 3" exhaust and chip, a real stump puller.! Tipping over 700nm of torque, the exhaust will cost a fortune with dump pipe all the way back , twice. If you are seriously going to do it, have the high performance coating done on the dump pipe and possibly the exhaust as well.

Hi,Pling

We recently had 3 inch Mandrel bend system fitted at Beaudesert Exhaust then had a Steinbauer Chip fitted at Motson's Brisbane on our 100 series TD .

Noticeable increase in performance seems to run a lot smoother, no increase in fuel economy ,tows our 18'Off road van with ease. As Tony Motson says "they have no control of your right foot!!"

Best thing we have done.

Cheers Joe.

I can't help you with an East coast supplier, but I have a custom twin 2.5 inch stainless system fitted with a chip by Manta exhaust in Cunderdin W.A, (no affiliation) from the dump pipes back and around the long range tank.

On the dyno the exhaust gives an extra 17 kilowatts and the Sting chip an extra 37 kilowatt on top of that.

The revs dropped by 175 at 110 km/h and the fuel consumption is hard to judge accurately as the wife and I have extremely heavy right feet.
The sound is brilliant and we are extremely happy with the wormanship and service from this company.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Have been thinking about a 3" exhaust for my 200 as well, know a local bloke who put one on, he says it has improved fuel economy a bit.
As for the chip, a friend put a Spyder chip in and has got extra power as well as marginally better fuel economy. But I wouldn't risk the chip, as it will affect your warranty. Besides haven't they got enough grunt anyway!
