I did a trip from Cameron's corner to Birdsville through Qld last Sep(yes it was wet) But do able, road conditions were good, the camp on the Cooper at the Dig tree is definetly worth a night or two and the St Ann's Range heading north is Magnificent. if you have time detour via Noccundra Hotel and camp on the creek.

Get some of the Hema maps of the area. Go to the Shop on this site where the Great Desert Tracks maps are on special today.

In the blue bar at the top of this page you will see buttons for Places, Treks and Blogs - you will find a heap of good info there.

Enjoy planning your trip, its half the fun of the whole adventure.

Cheers,

Broken Hill Tourist Information are very good and certainly have information covering the area around Tib and Cameron's. They may also be able to help you with the rest of the trip.

If you would like to look closely at your route..go to google maps, enter a town,
& follow your intended path. If you select "satelite" you can follow sat images
of the land you will traverse..adjust the scale & you can count the trees..:))).
cheers....oldbaz.

Hi,

Not sure if you intended on dropping in to Winton but if you do check out this link. Hope the timeing is right for you, as it was a wonderful event when we were there back in 2009.

In 2009 I did a trip south from Winton to Jundah via Lark Quarry and back east via Welford NP as well as others. The roads were good (I was towing offroad caravan) but traffic was very minimal, if you need help you will be on your own for some time so be prepared. The region was spectacular for many reasons (Dinosaurs, isolated camp spots for starters) my rig picture was actually taken in Welford NP and is still one of my favourite pics.

If you are close enough to go to Currawinya NP it also is a wonderful spot worth checking out.

Also the Bore Track between Cameron Corner and Innaminka was a delightful drive (again towing the van) that I would highly reccomend you look into.

Plenty of other highlights to find in that neck of the woods. Spend plenty of time around Innaminka as it is full of rich and wonderful history as well as a beaut place to relax. Coongie lakes a must... among other things.

The list could go on for some time but hope this helps a little.

Safe and happy trials.
Trevor.
