Hi, I am looking to buy another spare wheel (had a bad experience with 2 flat tyres a few weeks ago). Does anyone know where I might get a reasonable price one (the wrecker wants $750 without tyre). Thanks Graham

Hi Graham,
are they the same size as a 100 series IFS rim? I have 2x 100 series steel IFS rims in Melbourne. They are 16" x 8" wide and 5 stud.

I bought a cheap standard issue set last time from my local tyre shop, where they'd been exchanged for mag wheels. Did you want a wheel to match your existing ones, or just a wheel that fits?

Cheers, John

Thanks, might try this, does not need top match, only will take on big trip and will be stored in the POD on roof.

I have had a similar problem and have not found any cheap rims anywhere. On a recent trip to Cape York I did two tyres ( lucky i had borrowed an extra spare ). Even when back in Brisbane it took 3 weeks to even replace the tyres as there were none in Australia. This the standard Dunlop AT22 285's. I did not want these again as no other vehicle (5) had any tyre problems on the trip.
Could not buy any other brand of tyre and forced to go back to Dunlop's after many weeks. The rims are just as scarce unless you have big dollars to buy new from the dealer..

Hi Graham,

I got mine for $500 - brand new with stock Dunlop tyre - from my Toyota dealer shortly after purchasing the vehicle.

Turns out that there is an occasional LC200 buyer who wants to change rims on purchase, leaving the original units for sale.

Try checking with your sales person.

Cheers.

How about genuine Toyota 17x8 steel rim for LC200 part number
42611-60630. Price ranges from 124.00 - 136.40. Two days lead time for delivery. Offset is correct and load rating is also correct (as you would expect ) .

This is a good option, the 200 rim has a higher load rating than any aftermarket rims, including the 100 series rims. You could find yourself in an insurance nightmare if something happened and your rim load rating was too low.

Hullo Captain

I have long given up trying to find out the load rating on the 200 Series Alloy wheels!! Toyota WILL NOT tell you. I have five fitted to our caravan and despite months of trying to obtain the load rating of these wheels, I was totally unsuccesful.

I have upgraded the caravan ATM from 3500kg to 4320kg. I wanted 4500kg, but the Engineer could not sign off on this because of the lack of information on the wheel load rating. We used the "Axle Load Rating" of the rear axle of the Cruiser (detailed in the Owners Manual) to arrive at a GTM (load on axle grouping of van) of 3900kg.

You are well aware of the Tyre Load Rating of 1250kg for the Cruiser. If we could get Toyota to confirm the wheel rating as being the same we could have had a GTM of up to 5000kg (all else being similarly rated). BUT no luck.

On the Topic - I have a steel rim and tyre as a "spare-spare" and picked up a 18" Genuine Alloy on eBay from a Sydney Toyota Dealer for $75.00 for an additional spare!! The appropriate tyre has the same rolling diameter as the 17" Alloys, so makes for a cheaper option. Oh! of course I had to find the correct tyre, but it was the same price as the 17".

All very interesting stuff.

Regards, Jack

Hi Jack,

Yep, fully understand what you are saying. And here is a pic of a VX 200 rim thats had a bit of an impact (cracked the axle and diff too). Wonder how a non-geniune one would have done! Not my vehicle, but I do know the owner.
