New to Tassie & looking for somewhere to put up the tent, paddle the kayak and relax over the long weekend that will not be too busy
Prefer a bush or national park
camp spot in the Huon area but open to any suggestions
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Regards Don

Hi yu donk,
There is a
camping area known as "Rivers Edge Camping", its on the banks of the Russell River and about 30 ks west of
Huonville.
Other spots, on the banks of the Huon at
Franklin, 8 ks south of
Huonville, Port Huon, a further 15 or so south, both of these are popular and there will be others about.
If you wanted to go south of
Hobart, there is a
camp spot at
Gordon about 45 minute drive.
Cheers
Baz

Ah, the Russell River wouldn't be suitable for a kayak, but very good camping so you may not need to go for a paddle.

HI Donk,
If you get in touch with
http://www.tassiepaddlers.net/ they will be able to give you great spots to yak and
camp. They are a great group of people.
Franklin would be ok to
camp and yak as
well.
