A friend of mine is having all manner of trouble with his Jeep. It started with the loss of 4WD on Fraser Island (we'd been on the island for four days before it failed), then a broken front axle in the Wattagans, overheating in the Victorian High Country, and now overheating on the bitumen.

I'm not sure just what his Jeep dealer is doing, other than take his money. He was told that he lost 4WD on Fraser Island because of a "bent linkage". He's a very sedate driver, and I'm not sure how you bend a linkage on a place like Fraser Island.

He is losing confidence in his vehicle, and needs some expert, practical, advice.

Any recommendations of Jeep mechanics in Sydney's inner-east would be perfect; recommendations for anywhere else in Sydney would be appreciated.

Might pay to ask the same question on the ausjeepoffroad forums as they tend to know all things Jeep. The bent linkage probably refers to the link between the handle to engage 4x4 in the cabin and the transfer case, all it takes is a well placed branch. Hopefully he can fix his Jeep so he has time to enjoy it!

Thanks Tim - I should have thought of that myself, but didn't.

I'll direct my mate to the ausjeepoffroad website to get a little better educated before he goes to see Jason (see below).

Thanks!!

This guy I trust with my life

Jason Dymock would be one of the best 4wd mechanics in Australia IMHO, many others on this site would agree.

Cheers Colin

Many thanks, Colin.

I'll send my mate in Jason's direction before he loses too much more hair (and confidence).

Thanks!!
