Stuck in Kalgoolie! Hi to all, we are in Kalgoolie on a 3 month trip from Sydney to WA and back. My Pajero has developed a noise in engine bay. I think it is the water pump. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in Kalgoolie as I'm not keen to proceed without someone looking at it. Any response would be appreciated as today is Sunday and I will look for help tomorrow.
Regards Dasher.

Hi Dasher. Can't help with a mechanic in that area but I am in the mechanical business and have seen a couple of these fail. I would suggest not driving it too far until you have it diagnosed as the damage that can be caused to the engine can be horrendous. If it is a higher mileage engine, say 150k and up I would get the full timing belt kit installed, (belt, idler pulleys and tensioner/pulley complete with the belt) as well as the water pump as I have seen the bearings in these pulleys fail as well. Most bearing specailists keep them along with Repco. Don't forget to flush and replace the coolant too. Cheers,Bob

Thanks Andy, have you used them before? My other option is to go to the Mitsubishi Dealer in town tomorrow.

Under all circumstances DO NOT GO TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER.They cost me over $2500 due to poor workmanship in overfilling my auto transmission and popping the seal......TWICE. Stay away.!!!!
