Hi all,
Am looking at updating to a diesel dual cab and the 2.5L GLR or GLXR manual triton seems to be the most attractive option.
I was wondering if anyone could shead some light on this model in terms of practicality, fuel economy, comfort etc.
Most of what I have found is from older threads and what's in the brochures, so any current
feedback on this model would be great.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for that. I have been trying to get access to the new triton
forum, but for some reason I can't. Will keep trying though.

Mate if that is the current model, the rental Co have heaps of them. Hire one for a day and that will answer all your questions. We del two to
Sydney airport this morning for Avis. Quite comfy for a d/cab ute but mine had bad brake shudder (77000 ks) and the other one the wheels where badly out of bal.

G'day Phillip,
I own a 2009 ML 3.2TD Man Triton GLX/R.
Hasn't missed a beat since I bought it. I find the front seats comfy enough although some complain that there isn't enough support in them. The rear
seat passengers I carry tested all the dualcab ute rear seats before we chose ours and the triton won hands down. I'm over 6' tall and the rear
seat is fine for quite a long trip.
My teenage kids who are both quite tall spent 2 1/2 months in the back
seat for a trip to
Port Douglas from
Hobart, and back, and never a moan that they were uncomfortable.
Economy I get with a 1900kg Expanda van on the back is usually about 13.5L/100kms to 14.5L/100kms
Plenty of grunt to tow with and it never feels as though it's working hard.
The newer 2.5 litre model has more torque and power so I imagine it would be a capable vehicle as well.
As far as the look of the vehicle, I like the fact that it's different to all the others out there.
Happy choosing

If a Mack truck was overloaded to the same percentage as that Triton was it would break its back too.
It had AirBags on leaf springs which would be a great contributing factor.
I have a MN 2,4l DiD manual and love it. It pulls our 18' tandem van like it's not there (well, almost) gets 14 - 17 L/100km with the van and 8.5 - 10 cruising car by itself. Around town 8.5 is easy.
Cheers Neil
