Cape York

G'day,
Those that have been to the Cape, could someone verify if Captain Billy Landing is in Heathlands reserve or Jardine National park ?
All my maps are showing reserve, but I saw an article where it said national park.

It is located in the Reserve as per DERM Map Nov. 2010

This map is quite a good resource to have:

DERM Map of Cape York

We haven't been out to capt. Billy Landing for 5 years and wonder what the track in is like now.

Regards

Last year the track was narrow and winding, quite tight in some spots. But the end result was glorious!!Well worth the drive out there. What a beautiful spot.

someone must have pumped out the toilet .when we were there in 2008 you could smell the loo before you dropped down to the camping area . that was despite the wind. shmbo refused to use the facilities they were that dirty and overflowing.
one couple had been camped there for over a month -obviously had no sense of smell.

we had no problems with getting the camper trailer in on the road.

The problem with the toilet is it was designed for 15 people max. Last year when we were there, there was about 60 people camped- not one had paid the camp fee either (confirmed by ranger).

Oh for the days when it took 4 hours and a chainsaw to get in there, and you could be there a month and see nobody.

Can be a VERY windy camp site.

Hi Harry, try post 58399 for more info on Capt Billy and the Cape in general. The wet is still going this year and it wil take a good month to dry out enough for everything to be open once the rain stops................W
