It is time for a new set of
Dunlop Road Gripper light truck tyres but the driver has been told it is very difficult to get these now. Can anyone comment on this - is it just a
Melbourne thing? Has he just chosen the wrong dealer? Anyone know where we can get a new set, for sure?

Hi there Wendy
Beaurepaires Gouger St
Adelaide.
They usually have them at around $190 each.fitted
They take them off brand new Toyos going North & replace with whatever. I am sure they would do a deal & freight them to
Melbourne. They are at least $100 off new price. They are the Japanese Road gripper S
When I bought
mine they had plenty in stock
Hope this helps

Thanks, daz. The ones currently on are SP Road Gripper F. But it says they are made in Japan. What would be the difference to the ones you mention?

As far as I know none.
Give Beaurepaires a call. They will know the answer.

I use these tyres on my Troopy, F are made in Japan, S are not. Happy to be corrected on that. I have always used the F type as I was told these are better. I carry heavy loads and these tyres work
well for that. As far as I'm aware they are always shipped with F types already on.

road Gripper S are what the Toyotas arrive in Australia with.
That is why Beaurepairs in
Adelaide have plenty as they replace them for the mines up north.
Testra Nissan Patrols have the Road gripper S as
well .
Known as the telstra tyre.

Hi there Lyndon
Probably all made in Japan
As I said earlier . They are about one thid off here in
Adelaide so for a $100 I would not be worried whether an F or an S

Have done a bit of googling today. Seems the S tread pattern does not grip as
well on wet bitumen as the F one does. So, because Truck is driven quite a bit in city traffic, when we are
home, F might be the way to go. I am not sure whether the S and the F have the same compound, or whether S is harder.
Yesterday, the Driver followed up on the leads above, and thinks he may be on the right track, so thanks all.

Hi Bluey,
Thanks for the reply. Couple of questions. Did you take these off the troopy yourself, or was it done at a tyre service? Would you have any ideas who to contact re transport of these to
Melbourne?

Hello Wendy
I just bought the troopy and have put new wider rims and tyres on the car. The tyres are still fitted on the standard split rims that came with the car. I have only done 500Klms on them picking car up from dealer in
Sydney and running around to get the tyres and rims put on. They were taken off the car by the tyre people (Bridgestone in
Wollongong) and are know in my garage. As to transport I would suggest
Comet , TNT. There are a number of interstate companies that do this type of thing (
check yellow pages) and you should be able to get quotes from them.
Regards
Bluey

Wendy
Don't know whether i explained
well enough that these tyres are still fitted to the new rims thta came with the troopy. They are the 5 stud pattern so if you are running 5 stud toyota wheels they will go straight on if not you would have to fit to your own rims. Up here they are not taken off when the car is supplied.
