We had an SCA spotlight and fluro lantern which has died. Looking for a torch suitable for use around the
camp and spotting wildlife. Will forget the lantern and just go for a torch - we have our headlamps but want more of a torch. The lenser P7 seems a popular torch. What do others use?

The P7 is a mighty fine torch. Compact but wow, what a beam it throws! You can pick one up quite cheaply on the net.

G'day R&R, I use the lenserP17 and Maglite 3D. They both use 3 D cells but the maklite is a yellow light and the lenser is white and has a lot longer beam.

Practicality tends to win withus R&R.
My main requirement was that it fully fit into a shirt pocket and the little pocket of our Patrols arm rest , so that you actually get to it quickly and reliably.
Our answer was a 1 watt focussable item which was being sold over Xmas for about $19 by tool shops - I don't know the name but it has TTI written on it.
Its output and ease of use is quite remarkable , it will easily focuss a square (the LED chip image) onto a possum at 50 meters.
Ok , so last week coles advertized something similar for $8.
However it didn't show up in shops (in vic) - but it did in some country stores and is worth looking into at that price.
I haven't actually played with one yet , but due to a lot of background work , Coles apologized and a free one is it the mail to us to-night.

I have a 3 "D" cell Maglite and the light it gives off is OK, but yellow and with a limited range when compared to the Lenser P7 I also own.
The P7 is compact, runs on 4 "AAA" batteries and is the device I use as a torch.
The maglite is a better defensive tool as the foot long heavy aluminium body acts as a good "club":-)

G`day,
I have just bought a Led Lenser M14, many reasons for buying this model, it uses 4 x AA batteries which I already have lots of and a charger, it has 8 light functions which all operate from the one push button switch, it is extremely
bright having a 225 lumen rating, it has a very powerful strobe function which can be used as a defensive tool, it has a SOS signal, and lots more yet only about 160mm long.
Regards,
Scrubby.

Hi R n R Troop,
Google KE lighting. They sell headlamps for Underground miners which go on their hardhats but sell an adapter that allows you to use it as a headlamp.
It will be the brightest you will have ever seen bar none and lasts for 20 hrs on full revs and 40 hrs on idle and its waterproof and rechargable If those rockapes u/g cant kill em nothing will
I dont work for them ect but use it for work. I believe Sullivans and others sell copies which are just as good.
Cheers Wilko

Gday RnR
I have one for every occasion. My wife reckons I have a torch fetish . I would argue about that with her and loose ,again , but you need more than one torch .

Before you rush out & purchase the P7, have a look at the LED Lenser P5. It is the newer type polycarbonate with 2AA's for power. The lumin count is lower than the P7 but the throw & brightness is the same at half the price. I have both of these torches but prefer the P5, due to it's lightness. I went out to buy another P7 origonally, untill the sports
shop tested both on a far wall which convinced me. You don't get a pouch though with the P5 or half light output control.
