Hello i own a 2000 model GU 2 patrol with a ZD 30 turbo diesel in it.
Can you tell me and give me some instructions as to the best place to fit the piping to the engine for a turbo boost guage please.
As much detailed info would be great.

Ask on the Patrol
forum They are the experts.
Wouldnt increase the boost on one of them I dont think but would be handy to know what you have I guess.

Agree...I'd be spending my time fitting an exhaust temp gauge.

I agree with Fab The EGT will tell you when its getting too hot and I have found it invaluable.
Would be even more so in one of those engines which, to be polite are not noted for liking excessive heat.
Boost will look after itself.

Although ours is series III we fitted both EGT and boost gauges. I can't help you reddeer as our son fitted the boost gauge.
"not noted for liking excessve heat" - or overboosting. Fit them both reddeer and drive accordingly.

Have a look here;
http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-patrol-gu-gr-10/zd30-engine-protection-mods-50036/
Also do a search on that site on the zd 30.
I would also add an egt guage as
well as your boost guage.
As to where to get the feed for the guage, have a look for a plug or a line comming out of the piping between the turbo and the inlet manifold.
Id be more specific if I owned one, the patrol
forum will be able to give the exact spot.
Goodluck with it.
You may have to register to read the above but its free and has a wealth of info for the patrols.
Cheers

I fitted
mine to the metal pipe that runs across the top of the engine at the rear of the plastic engine cover. You can disconnect it easily from the rubber hoses either end and remove to tap into it.
I agree an egt is handy but boost is more important with this engine for various reasons and egt will look after itself if you do not use 18-20psi for long periods. Cruise should be about 7. Higher means potential maf problems. Lower means excessive egr. Both these if left unattended Result in adverse outcomes.
How many k's on board as a matter of interest?

my engine has done 5200kms. As i rebulit it after the previous owner stuffed it after hittting the sump on something.
When i pulled the engine apart there were no cracks in the pistons or the head it had 255000kms on it when i bought it.

Fixed your link, as Snoopy says you can use the "insert link" tab below where you type your posts. It works a treat.

You need to weld a bung into the intercooler piping to connect your plastic tube to from the boost gauge. The gauge should come with piping and a threaded bung.

Hi Reddeer,
Install the Boost pressure pickup any where between the intercooler and the inlet manifold.
The closer to the engine the better. I fitted
mine in the ducting from the turbo but on top of the engine. (1HD FT cruiser) On
mine there is a takeoff to the boost compensator fitted on the pump and I just cut into that line and fitted a tee.
You should be able to do it with your eyes closed it is that easy.
Good luck and Cheers, Bruce.
