Anne Beadell Highway update done

Hi Guys, we arrived in Coober Pedy just after lunch today, a number of EO people wanted to know what the ABH is like, I just thought I'd post a thread to let you know that the Road Conditions section for this track in WA and SA is now updated. Cheers to all, Kanga.
It appears there is only limited space in the road repot section and your report seem to be cut off?[br]We are heading along the AB in 2 weeks and we were looking forward to your report.[br]If you had anymore to report about the conditions or anything for us to be aware of or watch for we, would appreciate to heads up.[br][br]Thanks in anticipation.[br][br]Steve Mawson.
Thanks for letting me know the report did not all get posted. I can't remember exactly what I put in there, the bottom line is this, the section from just before Emu to Mabel Creek (270 kms) is pretty much ALL corrugated, ranging from bad to horrendous, this is car wrecking stuff I cannot overstate this. You may regret the decision to drive this section. Personally, we will drive some of the AB again, but it would be the section from the West to Vokes Hill Corner only. In my opinion this encompases the best of the scenery, some of which is staggering, hopefully this helps you. Adriane.

Hi Kanga1
Thanks for the info sounds like nothings changed or its got worse, we only did about 15 kms around Emu a few years ago and that was horrendous, so will try and prepare for the worst.
Thanks again for the update. We hope to be out there about 20th May.

Cheers,

Graham

I was on the ABH two weeks ago and went out to Emu and back. While the roads are extremely corrugated I was actually expecting them to be worse. We had the toughdogs wound right down and tyre pressures adjusted accordingly and didn't have any real issues. Having heard the horror stories over the past couple of years, I'd imagined them to be insurmountable. There were patches of decent track in that stretch but they are few and far between.Mabel Creek to Coober was in great condition. Corrugations started in earnest about 15 km past Mabel Creek when heading west. Pack the aeroguard. The flies and mozzies are a real plague as well at present.

Cheers Mick
