Hi there,
We wanted to leave Brisbane beginning of May to go to Broome via the Buchanan and the Gibb River Road, but thinking now of waiting until the end of May because of Road conditions. We will be travelling for 3 months towing a Kedron ATV Caravan with a L/C 105. As we are retired time is not an issue but I just cant wait as everything is packed and ready. Has anyone current information about the roads. Thanks for all info
Rudi

Go to your own thread and click on the words road conditions, and follow your nose from there.

Hi Rudi
Unfortunately I have found that the link recommended in previous reply has not updated a lot of roads since 25th March. I have bookmarked into my computer RACQ, NT & WA road conditions & read these reports. Just google same & hopefully you should have your answer. Buchanan Hwy currently closed due to road damage between Stuart Hwy & Buntine Hwy intersections as per today.
We plan to leave Brisbane beg May towing same van, 17'6 . We hope to go via Plenty Hwy, which currently is open to 4WD high clearance vehicles. It is boggy near Glenormiston Stn west of Boulia. We will just review the road situation when in Winton.
HTH & happy travels - may see you out there

Hi Sue

Thanks for that. How long are you going for? Maybe we see you on the road. We never been west so this is a first for us, Done quite a bit of north Queensland so far and hopefully this is the beginning of going around Australia.

trip will be approx 7 1/2 mths (courtesy LSL from a health service)
We plan to concentrate on NT & WA, take our time going anti clockwise & be home by Xmas & work again in New Yr.
We haven't seen anything west of Charleville, so really looking forward to the adventure & meeting similar minded people during the trip.
Will look out for other Kedrons on the road in the event it may be your selves.
Just 8 more sleeps til the big day :)

cheers
Sue

Sue,

Sounds like a great Trip. I hope you having fun. My wife Cherryl seems to remember your names from a Kedron owners gathering a couple of years ago. Are you members of the owners group?

must be another couple. We're members of KOG, but aren't financial members - only joined August 2010 when we got the van. Was reading more of KOG site yesterday & realized that they also have KOG away w/e's. I must investigate more next yr, so as to get to know some of the members.
See you both out there on the road
cheers

Hi Rudi

As you have a good time frame for seeing a fantastic part of Australia, play it by ear. Unseasonal rain has occurred in the Kimberley over the past few years, so check conditions each stage you get to. Mostly closures will not be of a long duration, or if they are, reassess and choose another route or decide to wait it out. The GRR is a must see, and is usually at its best in June (see My Blogs for 2008). Plenty to see in the north of NT too if you haven't been there before. Have a wonderful trip.

Thanks for your reply Motherhen, We are very much looking forward to the GRR. The only commitment we have is to be in Broome in the middle of July as we have booked a Caravan site. Apart from that we are very flexible. I think we go up to Kununurra as fast as we can as we want to stay at lake Argyle for a while visiting a Mate who drives the boat on the Lake. Its great being retired.
