Hi all. Planning a 10 day paddle in the Whitsundays.

I need somewhere to park the Transit Van from July 1st to 10th [maybe a couple of days either side].

Any ideas? Obviously need to pay, but prefer something economic. :-]]

Royce

Why Proserpine? It is 30-40 minutes @ 100km/hr drive from the coast.

I know there is secure parking available at Shute Harbour. 3-4 minutes @ walking speed from the water

What I have done in the past is to ask at a caravan park. They often allow people to leave caravans for a while. Maybe for a small fee they will let you park your car inside their gates

Good point. My daughter is flying in to Proserpine while I'm driving up.... so simply worked on Proserpine. Obviously I want to be as near to the wet stuff as I can get. I'll follow up the Cvan park suggestion.

try Ros and Paul at Hydeaway Bay caravan park about 30 mins NE of Proserpine. Almost direct access to islands but not necessarily the busiest/most commercialised. Some good paddles from there.

Not really the right access point to many of the islands of the Whitsundays unless the kayak trip is going to the lesser visited Gloucester island etc ;)

Royce

There are numerous places around Airlie Beach which offer secure parking. It is required for people who charter yachts and those who drive up to holiday on one of the offshore islands.

Local Tourist Info would be able to help, I can't remember the prices though.

Shute Harbour parking and storage is the most practical option for a kayak departure from Shute to the islands, however the cost may be a tad high for 10 days.

I'll see what my plans are with relocating my camper trailer, as you may be able to leave it at my place if you wish (Cannonvale). I'll send you a MM.
