Hi, does anyone have a list of names of creeks that feed the Daly River, particularly within 40k's of the Daly River crossing downstream and upstream. Also GPS readings of where these creeks meet the Daly would be very much appreciate. I would like to do a trip there one day and do some fishing.

Hi Nev,
I don't have any co-ordinates but when The wife and I flew up from Sydney we Chartered a guide from the Daly River Inn ( Prestige Inland Fishing or Boydies I think is the new owner ) after that trip we had a whole new RESPECT for the critters on and in the river system If I were to do it again I would still use them.
Local knowledge could be the difference between catching a feed and catching a monster to brag about, Two year ago we fished besides a couple we met at the Inn and watched her pull up and release a 114cm MONSTER BARRA.
We did see heaps of small tinnies in the river but I also saw Crocs up to the 5.0 meter mark as well.
Enjoy

Thanks for the reply Michael. How small were the tinnies you saw in the Daly. My mate has a 14ft flat bottom with fairly low sides so I am not that keen on using his boat.
Cheers!

12 foot/3.6m
We saw some crocs walking into the the scrub on a sand bank corner of the Daly that Shannon our Guide referred to as Croc corner he said they might be nesting and he would quite often see them coming out of this very tall grass area I would never get out of a boat to walk on the banks unless absolutely neccessary.
We also asked (hypathetically) if the boat tipped could we swim safely back to the bank his reply was If the crocs didn't get you the Sharks would :-)
Be carefull Mate and enjoy it

Cheers Michael

G`day Nev,
Follow the Daly on Google Earth and write down the co-ordinates of where the creeks meet the river, you probably won`t have the creek names but you will be able to find them if you have a GPS.

Good luck with the fishing,

Scrubby.

Hi Scrubby,
Thanks for the tip using google. I have done this b4 for another trip i done to Lake Hope. Only reason I would like the names of the creeks is that I have been given the names of a few that enter the Daly that produce good fishing but dont know there exact location. Mission creek and Charlies creek were mentioned in chit chat with some other fishermen.

Cheers!

G,day Nev T
Have a look at this book in EOshophttp://www.exploroz.com/Shop/Books/NorthAustFishFinder/North_Australian_Fish_Finder.aspx
Also available Ebay and most news agents.
Its the bible for all fishing north of cold winters.
We used it ten years ago and found invaluable both for fish and camps , still a couple of days with a good guide will steepen the learning curve.
