Hi guys,
I,m considering fittinhg a chip to my 100 series cruiser 1HD-FTE.
I,m told this motor is mechanically injected??
Can a chip be fitted? If so which one? I,d be interested in all comments.
Thx

I have a 2005 TD 5sp and it has a Safari Dtronic chip and a 3" mandrel bent exhaust.
The exhaust gives more oomph than the chip.
Mine went from 145hp on the dyno to 165.6 after fitting both.
Has noticeably more get up and go as witnessed by giving a friend a ride.
He commented that mine went lots better than his 2002 VX 4sp auto.
Fuel consumption didnt change as the power is there and you tend to use it.
Towing 2850kg van for over 50,000k I averaged 17.5l per 100km.
Cost approx $12,500 for fuel.
A Tuneit chip is quite good but the Safari is no longer sold here I believe.
Depends where you are Mine was done at AMMS at Sandgate in
Brisbane and they sell the chips (no fish though)
Have a look here Mine got a bit better than that as you see above

Hi Noel,
I fitted a Rapid chip and Taipan 3 inch exhaust and went from
150 kw at 3514 rpm and 439 Nm at 2871 rpm
to
170 kw at 3514 rpm and 512 Nm at 2329 rpm.
Before and after readings were taken on a dyno.
Best thing I ever did to my 100 series TD.
cheers

Hi Noel,
As far as I know, the 1HD FTE is definitely electronic injection.
The 80 series 1HD FT was not.
Looks like the 'E' stands for electronic injection.
'F' for four valves per cylinder. I imagine.
The turbo diesel was not supplied in Australia in the 100 series till the year 2000 and when it was released here it was electronic injection.
It was also only fitted to the 100 IFS and not the 105 solid axle.
Yours will take a chip and I have been advised that it is worth the doing. I have also been told by members here that a 3" exhaust upgrade will give slightly better results than the chip. Looks like they go hand in hand.
Cheers, Bruce.

Great Thanks for info. I,ve booked in for a 150K Diesel service with a very
well know diesel place about 100klm south of
Sydney ( I wont name them but most would have heard of them). I inquired about getting them to fit a chip as part of the service. They said they couldn't fit there chip because of mechanical injection. Looks like I need to call again??.

Hi Noel C,
Does this mean that your engine is not a 1HD FTE but a 1HZ which has been turbo-ed or am I missing something here.
Just curious.
Cheers, Bruce.

Hi Noel,
I have a Landcruiser 100 1HD FTE and it is fitted with a DP Chip (DP-34)
So those people 100 kms south of
Sydney will be able to help you.
Cheers,
John

After advice like that from them I would be going somewhere else that knows what they are talking about.
That is presuming you are talking about the correct motor.
The advice about the exhaust I have already posted and would say one should not be done without the other or you will be very disappointed.
