Caravan Layout Options

Hello,we're new to caravanning, have bought a Coromal Excel 547 with shower/toilet,we like the van find there is a very narrow space to get around the foot of the bed(queen). I have been thinking about the magnum 610, haven't actually looked inside one yet,i like the idea if the full ensuite as one gets older and less agile, has anyone had any experience with new magnum, any problems etc.

Reason why we have a double bed as the queen size cuts down on cupboard space and space around the end of the bed. I know many that consider getting a queen size bed a bad mistake.
We have a combined shower toilet van as we much prefer the extra bench and kitchen cupboard space over an ensuite shower and toilet which also makes the caravan longer and heavier. The kitchen gets used all day whereas the shower/toilet gets used for 5 minutes a day.

Well..... our van has a queen length / double width bed - and a mattress with flip up head section - the bed frame also has a slide in/out section at the foot - that allows us to shorten the bed during the day - we can clear the bed when passing by if we try, but it's easier if we shorten the bed. Our shower / toilet is the corner combo - we can quite happily live with that to keep the van more compact - when we no longer want to go into the scrub, we might have a full width bathroom setup.

Has the bed got a bolster at the head.

If so take it out and slide the bed back during the day.

Our Princeton is like that and so was the Roadstar.

As far as Im aware most do do that.

Hi Beverley

Our 18' (internal) caravan has a QS sideways bed which my husband needs for length. It is the same size as our QS at home. As we are not full time on the road, this bed is not a problem and i would rather have the space in the living area. The bathroom is a small all in one unit - shower and toilet but no hand basin. Again for part time use it is adequate. When travelling we are on the move most days, and don't want to be towing around a house. While the full rear ensuite with separate toilets and shower with vanity in between is lovely, to me it blocks the view and light from one direction and is not necessary for a van that is not our full time home.

Hi Beverly M. We have a 22ft van with an ensuite, seperate shower, toilet and basin and a Slide out (east, west) bed. This option is absolutlely brilliant and just makes so much more room. It may be an idea for you if you are upgrading. Cheers,Bob

We had an east west bed and are glad to see the back of it.

Our shower and toilet were at the front and as we had a 6ft mattress made there was no room to get around the end.

Also if the one on the far away side wanted to use the loo at night you had to climb over the other occupant.

Our latest van has a north south and we never worry about pulling the bolster out usuall because, after all how many times a day do you need to get up the sides of the bed.
