Wayne,
all is good, everything is repaired, well road wise anyway.

Just be careful around the Burdekin as some spots can flood, Home hill is a great spot but the River can break it's banks, locals will tell you where it doesn't flood.

Good spot you chose, far enough from the crowds of Townsville but close enough to get things.

Have a good one.

Be very wary of Qld asking for flood victim relief money donations and then not ditributing it!! Very nasty.

Bigfish,
being the director of back pocket operations in Queensland, although Sir Kev is my boss, I would like to know who is skimming our relief profits.

Queensland, WHO in Queensland is asking for money from a fellow traveller coming from the iron ore state. I will personally have them beheaded.

As for our new found import, he should feel quite at home as Mick Curtain has an Iron Ore mine up at the back of Harvey's Range behind Townsville.

More info please. Hope it's not today tonight

Gooday Wayne, I travelled with my van Townsville - Mt Isa and return about a month ago. Some pot holes and surface wash away but nothing to be concerned about. Repair crews were working on the worst areas at the time and I guess they will continue to work until all fixed. If you are looking for a caravan park in the area I recommend the lake view at Richmond, It's a brilliant spot. If you have time take the road out of Hughenden to Porcupine Gorge, apx 80 km its well worthwhile. Bush camp / caravan sites, Toilet facilities only, Minimal National Parks charges. The gorge and the scenery is wonderful. The water erosion in the sandstone leaves all wonderful effects and overhangs. In fact the whole western Qld. is looking so good, The mountains and rolling plains are covered in green grass. Now is the best time to see it...
