I'm looking to go camping in the
Otways and the
Aire Crossing campground looks nice on paper.
Is it a nice spot where you can
camp next to your tent near the river or is it one of those Parks sites where there are barriers between a car park and the
camp spots?
Also is it at all busy at this time?
Any other advice on quite sites in the
Otways near a creek would be appreciated.

Hi Boobook
We were there a few weeks ago with our caravan and it was magic. There are two campgrounds. One is west of the river and has very large grassy areas , fireplaces and a long drop
toilet. It can be a bit exposed if the wind gets up. The other on the east side is the pick.
Toilet block but no water and steel fireplaces [ bring your own wood!]. Koalas everywhere in the
campsite. Very friendly.
No phone and no TV but you can leave your van there with safety and go off exploring the National park etc.
And it is FREE!
Enjoy.
regards
Guy

There is
camping area about 50 mts from river with a drop
toilet that's new, there's room for a camper trailer, but its not dead flat ground. If you take the first turn off that's sign posted there's tent sites with car access, but don't know how many. Its a great place to
camp, but will be cool this time of year. If you want a fire it might pay to take some diesel as local wood will be wet or damp.
Have a good trip.
Murray
PS This is the
camp site below the Otway Fly which a think you meen
