I am looking to buy a new better quality flashlight. I currently have a AA Cree Romison which is good for its size, but would like to have a better one and in my opinion that means upgrading to a 18650 battery.

I generally buy these type of things through DealExtreme and was hoping to get something under $50. Flood to throw ability would also be great.

Try the www.batteryjunction.com. Brought from them many times and never a problem. Heaps of 18650 lights. Check out the lumapower lights.

If you want to do a little research before you buy, check out www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/forum.php

The only flashlight I have is a little pop-up thingy on my camera.

For walking around in the dark I use a torch.

Hahaha! Love the humour Frank.

Back to torches, I love my Lenser P7. Runs on 4 AAA batteries which last ages.
The compact design is a winner and even though the P7 comes with a belt pouch, I just shove mine in my pocket so it is readily available when I need it.
(I have enough gizmos hanging off the belt already.)
Super bright too with the ability to change from wide angle to spot.

Dollar value? You get what you pay for I reckon.

Thanks, Frank. Torch is the word.
I notice with horror that Aussie shopping malls increasingly have "restrooms". God, I hate stupid bloody Yanks. I don't go into a lavatory for a rest.

Trustfire SSC P7 is an amazing LED torch for around $30-40 uses the latest Cree technology, I have 2 of them, amongst others, but for the money and light output, great value.
