Just trying to find out from owners what they think of this camper and in-particular this model. Had a good look at it at Rosehill and Mailtland seems well made and has most of the useful features without to many bells and whistles.
Thanks

I had a supamatic regal xt 2 years ago and was not happy. Neither were my friends who bought similar, or the people we met along the road with them. The canvas for the tent part never seems to sit right, we ended up with a lot of water damage. had it repaired and sold it as quickly as possible. Friends had similar problems.
I have only ever met 1 happy cub owner - the bloke who sells them.

Just my 2 cents worth.

We had one about 4 years ago, much the same as stumbly 1. Friends have one now, much the same. The smaller the model the better they appear to sit and tighten the canvas enough.

another 2 cents worth.

We have had a Cub since 2006 and the only thing we could fault is the zip as we have the round door and have to be careful to set it up right.

The later model have the square door.

We went to Cub and they spent an hour with us showing us the correct way to set it up and made sure that the extension poles inside where set up properly.Really worth getting in contact with them as we found them very helpful and have not had trouble since with the zip around the door. Everything else is great with our Cub.

yes, we tried that aswell with the dealer here in Perth. Didn't make any difference to our camper.
And I'd forgotten about the zip! we used to have a mongrel of a time with it.
We persevered for over 12 months with the dealer making constant reassurances that with time the canvas would stretch. Then contradict himself and say it would shrink.
Perhaps we just got a dodgy one - but worked out be a very expensive learning experience for us - due to some water stains we couldn't remove we lost close to $8000 on resale.

We've had our Supamatic since 1988 and it is still going strong, bit different to the later models though.
I think where people come unstuck is when they want a canvas roofed hard floor camper to be the same as poptop caravan for half the price which they never will be, it is a tent on wheels with a floor off the ground. We've never had ours leak in all the years we've owned it and used it for months on end sometimes.

never wanted it to be a pop top cvan for half the price. I had a cavalier soft floor camper before my cub and new exactly what to expect from a camper trailer.

SKL, we have a cub brumby and think its the greatest thing since sliced bread. If you water your new canvas in properly it should never leak.

We seasoned our canvas as per instructions - ours was leaking from the canvas not sitting correctly and water pooling on the lower front wall where it connects to the body. This was after taking it back to the dealers to have the poles set correctly.

Gday...

Julie S said "We went to Cub and they spent an hour with us showing us the correct way to set it up and made sure that the extension poles inside where set up properly. I had a Cub Spacematic Drover back in 2004 for three years .... and like others have said, I could NOT get the canvas to sit properly and the zip on the door was ALWAYS a pain to open/close.
I was transferred to Sydney for my work and I went to Cub Campers factory and they found the poles had not been properly installed and after they adjusted things and spent time showing me how to put it up and down (a number of times) it was a good outfit. Apparently the 'agent' in Victoria had not set it up properly - or properly instructed me when I bought it.
Except for the canvas 'problem' - it went EVERYWHERE my Cruiser went and caused me not one ounce of trouble (or is that a gram now we are metric?)
Cheers
John

I have 1 on order. we went through the same process as you and asked many questions, I could not afford the near $50,000 for the other hard floor brands, Cub only $30,000 may not have all the bells and whistles (looks solidly made but will go over it on p/up) but it has all we require to start out ! We left out the 3 way fridge, and we are supplying our own wheels and tyres (to match tow tug) and fridge box for the draw bar to fit 80lt waeco also extended the draw bar to allow the rear door of our Pajero to fully open, and extra wiring for us to add solar at a later date.
Just anoth month to wait.
Try campertrailer.org they have been a wealth of info
