4wd Club

Hi all,

i am looking for a 4WD club to join in the ipswich/ brisbane area. i have seen the club lists on four wheel drive qld, but want recomendations from others that are in the know rather than just reading club websites.
Need something thats family friendly and not just beer and blokes. I also would prefer a club thats social and happy to have complete novices join, and with members who are willing to teach complete newcomers how to get out and enjoy australia.

thanks,

Taf

Hi Taf,

QLD Nissan Patrol club is pretty good. They meet at Mt Gravatt monthly but have quite a few s from Ipswich area. Very family friendly and everyone must complete their training whether a novice or not which is quite good. I am sure others are as good.

P.S. You don't have to own a Patrol to join!!!!

Cheers

What about Ipswich 4x4 Club?

Met a few of their members at the Ipswich show and they seemed very family oriented. Large mixture of ages and vehicles.

Try www. ipswich4wdclub.org.au

We met some fantastic people from the Gold Coast 4WD club up on Cape York last year. It seems to be a family oriented club from what I gathered.

Frances,
That would be Murray, Ronnie and Co. Great friends of ours and solid members of the Gold Coast Club!
It is a very family orientated club indeed!!

Cheers

Hi Brian, yes that's correct. If I lived on the Gold Coast we would become members. They were so good to us - I was on my own with 4 kids and had never done any 4wdriving and they babied me the whole way up the OTL without incident. Absolutely fantastic people.

Another family they met on that trip have become members of our club as well!!

if your after a club that isn't really into doing the harder stuff but more out for a social event and is really family orientated, then look at The Motley Crew 4wd and Social club. everyones vehicles are their daily drivers and need them for work on Monday, so nobody is out to break anything. if you don't won't to drive something then don't, nobody will think any the less of you, it's not about being the biggest and best driver out there.
i'm sure plenty of other good clubs are out there also, but i can only comment on the above club as i've been a member since it started. check out the website and join the forum and feel free to come along on a trip or to the next meeting and see if you think the club is what your after. http://www.themotleycrew.com.au/
cheers

Hi Taf,

Just had a look at the Motleys web site..... looks like a great bunch of people there and I have seen their windscreen banners around the Coast here from time to time.

I have met a few of the Ipswich club members over the years and can honestly say they are a good bunch of people as well. Just wander along to a general meeting and you'll get a "feel" for the place.....

We belong to the Gold Coast Four Wheel Drive Club, which has something for everyone really.... as well as being family friendly. Might be a bit far for you though from the Ipswich area, but if that's not a problem, meetings are first Tuesday of the month at Nerang Bi-Centennial Hall, meeting starts at 8pm and usually goes for an hour or so. Coffee tea and biscuits afterwards.

Come and say G'day!!

Cheers

Brian

I think it's a good idea to pick a few and go along to a meeting to see how you feel about the place.

You're welcome to come along to TLCC if you like- we meet at Mt Coottha auditorium on the last Monday of the month. In my opinion, it is a friendly, well organised club with a wide variety of trips (mainly weekend as most members are still working, with something on most weekends), activities and education days. There are often families w/ kids on trips but the kids usually aren't at the meetings :)

We have lots of complete newcomers and offer a driver training program to get them comfy in their vehicles.

Hope this is useful and you find something that suits you!

Cheers,
Amy
