Shane,
There is a brand new D8 Dozer stuck in the Kogan dump at the moment and they broke a 50t snatch strap trying to recover him LOL
It is over the top of the motor so it is very stuck hehehehe
The operator couldn't stop spewing when it slid into the rancid muck of the pit LMAO
I don't think he is going to live this down in a hurry, they may have to get a couple of 100t cranes out to get it out :)
Cheers Kev

Holy Moly!
Check out the length of slack used for the second attempt.
Not a good "advert" for how to do it in normal circumstances IMO.
A couple of metres of slack is all that is normally required for your average vehicle.

Hi Bill,
I agree that its not a good demonstration for a NORMAL snatch recovery, but you can't say these are normal vehicles, or call this tow rope normal either.
Clearly both drivers know what they are doing, front truck is empty (10-11 ton), rear truck still has at least some load (10 or 11ton up to 22 ton) and not going anywhere, second attempt was a measured response, I didn't seam excessive to me given the traction the front truck had.
