Hi I am looking at doing a trip going Lynhurst via the Strzelecki Track to Innamincka then Innamincka to Birdsville then back down the birdsville track. What I need to know is that if this is possible. Can you get through all these sections. I know Birdsville track is all good but the Strzelecki to Innamincka has alot of cautions in the road conditions section. And the im not sure about the part from Innamincka to Birdsville. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Hi Brodie

We are doing something similar in around a months time. From reports from here on the forum, one member has very recently travelled the Strez and he said it was in first class condition. I have not heard any reports re north of Innamincka, but believe all tracks are open, as well as the causeway which was opened the other week. The Birdsville Track is good and with the added bonus of taking the ferry across the Cooper.

Have a great trip.

Cheers

Depends when you're going -keep an eye on the conditions as they can change daily. The Strzelecki Track should be a breeze at the moment, be careful at the creek crossings but as I understand it they are not deep at the moment. Walk them to make sure if they look deep but I doubt you'll have an issue.
Getting to Birdsville, my understanding is that it's easily done via the Arrabury Road up to the Birdsville Developmental Road. The Cordillo Downs Rd I'm not so sure about... Transport SA shows it as 4WD only, RACQ shows it as closed. So at the moment I'd call that one touch and go... if it is open, while it might be a shorter distance, it will probably take you just as long as going via Arrabury.
I'm not in the area so all this is hearsay... hopefully someone closer to the action can confirm for you, but thought I'd share what I know...
And I'm jealous... wish I was heading up there too...

Hi Brodie

We did this exact trip last week. Noccundra, Cameron Corner, Strezlecki to Innamincka, Innaminka to Birdsville via the Arrabury road, ( that's the only one open). Came down the Birdsville track to Marree, missed the ferry re opening by two days unfortunately. Then followed the Oodndatta track to Coober Pedy. All roads are in good condition, only short areas of corrogations mainly on the old Strzelecki track and the Arrabury road.
Fuel is a lot cheaper at Birdsville than Marree.

Enjoy your trip

Jon
