Hi,
Heading up through arkaroola to innaminka and
coongie lakes in a week, has anyone been up there lately and got any info on which roads are closed etc. I realise there are sites on the net that are quite useful but i cant seem to find out about the road from arkaroola which has a lot of creeks to cross and then up to coongie.
cheers
Andrew

Last desert parks bulletin I saw advised Coongie closed for the foreseeable future. Best to use the SA main roads page as it is usually up to date. Conditions can change day to day anyway as some areas still getting occasional rain.

Hi Andrew
With now rain up that way for quite some time, the roads are in good condition.
Coongie Lakes is still out and at this stage will not be open to the Public until the 2012 tourist season.
We will be back up there again in a months time.
Have a great trip.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Andrew,
The road passed Arkaroola to
Mount Hopeless was OK a fortnight ago and the Stzelecki track would be the best dirt road I've travelled but from about the Delta gas field up it is a little corrugated. As stated already
Coongie Lakes seems to be out this year.
Cheers
Graham

It's often termed the
Moolawatana track. Designated open currently.

Note that a side ride (to Mt Fitton) is closed.

Andrew, the details on the Ferry are also noted on the web link above given by Darian. It's a useful link to bookmark and refer back to.
The ferry is about 150 Km north up the
Birdsville track. Can't miss it.

Andrew I should have mentioned also that if you are going to
Innamincka then it will be difficult to get to the ferry without travelling quite a few Kms. Normally you could cut west from
Innamincka along the
walkers crossing PAR over to the
Birdsville track but its closed. That means you either go back to
Lyndhurst and then head north up the
Birdsville or continue north from Innamicka up the
Cordillo downs rd, west then to
Birdsville and come south down the track to the ferry. All good if you have the time.
