In a couple of weeks time I'm looking to travel south from Birdsville and then cut south east along the "public access route" crossing Cooper Creek at Walkers Crossing and then on into Innaminka. Does anyone know if that "public access route" through Walkers Crossing is open or whether it is too wet?

Hi Ray

The crossing was washed out with the floods and at this stage it looks like it will not be back into action until 2012.

You will have 3 options.

Down the Birdsville Track and have a ferry ride, and then on to Lyndhurst then up to Innaminka.

Birdsville to Innamincka via Cordillo Downs.

Birdsville to Innamincka via Arrabury

We are also in that area in 2 weeks time.

Cheers

Thanks Stephen. I'll probably now go via Cordillo Downs.

Do you know if the track from Innaminka to Coongie Lakes is open?

Hi Ray,

Cooongie Lakes was closed when we were there a couple of weeks ago and possibly for some time yet apparently.

Hi. Ray
Like above, Coongie Lakes will be out until 2012 at the earliest.

Keep an eye out for my black Prado, as we will be in that area in around that time.

Cheers
