Ok, I give up! What is a Toshiba m8b?
If it is an outboard motor, keep the powerhead slightly higher than the gearbox & don't lay it on the gear lever side.

I think the problem with 4 strokes is the oil can get into the cfombustion chamber if laid the incorrect way. Mind you they expect us to be mind readers lol

Hi Lon,

Check on the side of the motor (generally the left side) for 2 lugs. This is the side to lay it down on.

On both my 15HP Mercury 2 stroke and 5HP Mariner 4 stroke, the motor can be laid down on its side with the handle side face up.

Lon s

My Tohatsu 6 has a sticker on the side indicating you lay it down on the handle side , not the gearstick side. My Outboard mechanic says you will still probably get a bit of oil on start up - probably not a bad thing anyway!

cheers

I carry mine on an inexpensive custom made trolley which elevates the motor, and allows me to put it into and out of the Cruiser by myself, effortlesly.

I made it out of two cheap sack trolleys from Bunnings ($14each) I can send you an image if you want to contact me offline, or if I can sort this site out, I could post one up here.....?
