At last I found a good one (hj60) and am off to test it out this weekend

I have a question about a oil filter that the last owner had put on that is blue in colour and he told me it makes your oil last longer?? he said it had a part of a toilet roll in it?

can anyone tell me what it is, what I am ment to do with it and where I can get new filters for it??

And thanks for everyones advice on what to look for as I would have bought the first one I saw (stuffed motor) instead of this good one

Sounds like the toilet roll bypass filter system. Ive heard of them, but never used one. Your oil lasts indefinately, but when you change the filter(toilet roll) you loose 1 litre of oil, so u need to top up.

I would be asking the previuos owner, the filter is a toilet roll without the centre cardboard circle i believe.
You can decide whether you want no name brand or sorbant!

Thats a great idea, save money on filters and oil, jeeez I wonder what a new engine costs, saving 50 bucks per years sounds a real good idea, I hope its not a diesel.

Hi Rob,

It's not a good idea to screw around with pretend oil filters on a diesel - especially a 2H indirect injection, which is a soot factory for the oil!

My advice would be to throw this thing away, and change your oil and filter every 5,000 km, as recommended in the book.

Cheers

Toilet rolls should be only used for what they were designed for ---- nothing else !!!!!!! Regards G.T.
