Hi All
We are back
home again and I know where I would rather be...back out in the bush.
We ended up staying another 3 nights at the Cooper Ferry site and once again it was just brilliant. When we were talking to the helicopter pilot, he mentioned that someone in
Marree was going to start a seaplane service from there and to be able to land on the Cooper.
It is not talk and here are some images that I was able to take while we were camped there.
The pilot was making some practice runs as such, as he was the only person in the plane and did at least 6 landings and take off.
Who will be the first to try this new service.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
Some great photos there mate.
Seems like a lifetime since we were up there, but it was less than 4 months ago.
The pictures of the plane look interesting. Was
the pilot taking off at the
Lake (Killamperpunna) end? Looks a little wide to be taking off across the Cooper.
I'll bet Peter Ware won't be too happy, having to share the tourist dollars with another operator. The reason Peter transferred to the Cooper Crossing area was because he was being choked out at
Innamincka buy ridiculous Government charges.
When we were up there, there was just Peter, who had arrived a few days previous.
Now there is a helicopter and soon, a seaplane.
Geez, someone will be setting up a bloody resort next:-)
Oh, I just love the Aussie Outback.

Hi Bill
Time does go so quick and Fiona and I made the comment that it only seemed like yesterday that we were camped at the Cooper, but it was 14 months previous.
The plane was taking off and landing only about 500 metre east of the actual ferry site and taking off to the east, towards the old sheep crossing area. We did 2 helicopter rides and the Cooper cruise, both were very interesting. Peter know about the bird life and the history of the Cooper and made the cruise even better.
As for the helicopter ride, we are hooked. Here is a shot from it showing the actual ferry crossing coming in from a south west approach.

As you can see, there is a vast body of water to the east where the sea plane planed and took off.
The Cooper at the crossing is one very special spot and one location that anyone that is serious about top outback locations to visit should see, after all it looks like this year will see the last of the Cooper ferry for a very long time.
Cheers
Stephen
