Can anybody recommend one or two pleasant campsites between Cordillo Downs and Cadelga SA?

Justin,

I was through that way a few weeks ago and did see quite a few camped by the creek and right near the ruins. We spent a very pleasant evening a little further north near the intersection of the Birdsville Developmental Road by the shores of Moonda Lake which is currently full. There is an access track down to the lake turning to the east of the Cordillo Road about 6.8 km south of the main Birdsville Road. This goes down past a dam. It didn't look to inviting. We turned off exactly 10 km short of the Birdsville Road and went east to the red bluffs and then picked our way down to a patch of trees. It was relatively sheltered and we had the shore in front of us and the low rocky bluffs behind us. There was a bit of timber about so all in all it was a good camp site. We turned in at 25°51'47.70"S 140°20'29.78"E and picked our way down the slope to the flat, a total distance of only 700 metres or so. I see you have a Hilux so you would be fine in getting down and out Didn't need 4x4 just high clearance.

Cheers Mick

Thanks for that Mick. I had heard about the camp at the ruins but from some reports apparently it's fairly popular, can appear flogged out at times and a there's a bit of rubbish lying around. Pretty much what I'm not looking for!
Cheers.
