Not sure whether this is the right forum to talk about the complete lack of manners & courtesy shown by some tourists recently in the NT.Seems some are hell bent on being the first to get on & off first on any tour or that they may miss out on the food provided. We had our 6 grandchildren with us from country SA & they were completely amazed as to what some would do just to be first in line.Have others experienced this.Otherwise what a fantastic place to visit.

I have noticed this behaviour. It's just in the NT. Quite often aging baby boomers will push little kids out of the way so that they can be first. It's not everyone, but it happens enough to make it noticable.

yep - the bigger the travelling army gets, the worse the behaviour, it seems

Some of these long termers behave like they own the lace

see the thread on "free camping"

Why just go for the tourist :-)

Is it not the way today's society is heading?

We need to take a long hard look at where we are going & do something about it soon

No - Just lead by example is all you can do - We could also teach our kids some good old fashion respect as well.

Has been thrown out the window a bit.

Priscilla G,
Electric Cattle Prods would be handy while kids are in Primary school. Reckon that might work, ;)

Shock therapy. :)

Great idea! and fun too!

Do you think you could get into a primary school carrying a cattle prod? I know the little b_g_ers could do with it sometimes but a bit harsh I think:-)
(joking I know what you mean, just could be taken 2 ways and I couldn't resist)

Priscilla You could always JUST SHOUT AT THEM!

lol..... a message all in capitals .. upper case is considered SHOUTING in a forum and there fore 'rude'.

Mind you .... I agree. I try to avoid tourist spots wherever possible. There is certainly a difference between a 'traveller', or 'explorer' and a 'tourist'.

Just never get between the old folk and free food at Midday Melodies at the Arts Centre in Melb.

Was trampled for the 3rd time and had to get pulled over the bar for my own safety.

lol

The oldies were young once. That's probably when they learned the bad manners.

Watch out for their elbows. LOL

My wife and I were on a great tour of the Ord River - Lake Argyle back to Cunnanara - scheme a few years ago and I was nearly shoved over the side of the boat when the tour guide on the boat started to feed a croc (or fish) from "my" side of the boat! Incredible...the dopes were hell bent on taking happy snaps no matter what even though he was going to change sides anyway!

And the same idiots - from Australia - discussed Adelaide in very deprecating terms and ran down the NT saying it was too hot to live there etc etc etc

Some people are morons - hard to accept but it's the truth

Happy days

George
