Ascertain the part number on the actual shock - then contact Heasmans in
Sydney (agent/distributor). They know all about them - they service/recon them.

Hi Andrew,
I'm going to make a couple of assumptions here, even though i don't usually like to assume anything...
I'm going to assume you have bilstein shocks on your car and want to know if the valving (dampening) is adjustable...
I've been around shocks in offroad applications for many years and i don't know of any externally adjustable bilstein shocks. The valving is adjustable internally as the shocks are rebuildable so it is possible to dismantle them and replace the shim stack to suit your needs, how ever this is not a job for just anybody!...
You can get some bilstein struts that are advertised as adjustable but this is merely a ride height adjustment via the positioning of the coil spring on the strut.

Thanks Ruffy
You assume correct. I find my bilsteins too firm and crap on corrugations.
Think I'll just replace them with something else..

Andrew I think you may find your HARD ride is because of
the springs you have, do you know what is on the car, the billies shocks are usually good

Also do you let the tyres down a bit on corrugations? The tyres are part of the
suspension as
well.

Yes, I have let my tyres down to as much as 20 psi on corrugated roads and it still feels like I have 60psi in them.
I'm not new to corrugations and have done many off road
miles in different vehicles...none as bad as what I have at the moment
suspension wise. I have read other threads where people have complained about the stiffness of their billies so that's why I lean toward the shock rather than the spring...I don't have a mega lift kit or anything crazy..

I ran bilsteins in my GQ and found them oon the firm side. Was ok with a fully laden vehicle but day to day was... annoying..

My Bilsteins were too firm and decided to change themselves by melting, snapping in half, and jumping out from the confines of the spring.
The replacements are adjustable ToughDogs. I'm yet to try them out.
