Can anyone tell me whether the
Winton -
Jundah Rd is open and if so whats it like. I'm getting some conflicting reports. And how are the rats at Welford?

Gday...
I just arrived in
Winton today from
Longreach. The
sign coming into
Winton said the road to
Jundah was 'open' ..... I have no idea of the condition.
I would assume it is about as good as the other 'back roads' I have been travelling on recently - had attention from councils, but still some 'rough' patches and potholes. Caution required .. but nuffin too bad.
Cheers
John

Have been down to
Lark Quarry, same road, today and it was very good. Some city bloke reckoned it was bad but I think he had never been outside the city before and not in the real world of the Outback.

....and therein lies the problem in asking this question. One man says "very good" and another says "bad".
Some specific detail would be best.

Gday...
Got ya drift ... but "open" is "open" ..... and if we taught people to drive to the conditions there are really very few "really bad" roads - driving to the conditions makes even the majority of the roads in the
Vic High Country 'good'...... and outback roads that have suffered floods etc will not be the freeway between SinCity and
Canberra.
Cheers

This year is the first year I have noticed the road signs "Open with Care" and that was in July. I've never seen that before as it has been open or closed
